BK Flea MKT, Food, Highline Park

Brooklyn (BK) has a flea market that happens on some (maybe all) saturdays. It is local reclaimed, refinished, refurbished, and re-anything-else you can think of. There are a bunch of different tables and booths and tents set up in a high school parking lot and they all sell different home-made items at relatively low prices for any standard. There are also food tents that have local food and home-made drinks (shakes, sodas, etc…). We had a few grilled cheese(s) that had granny smith apple slices melted in. On the way to the market we saw the new Brooklyn Nets stadium. Some good news is that our subway skills are improving. The map said it should take us 8 minutes to get to the market and we got there in just over 2 hours. So as you can see we are starting to really get good at navigating.

The High Line Park is a recently (last few years) opened park that used to be an elevated railroad track running through New York City’s upper west side. This old rail line is now an ultra modern park where those looking to take a scenic stroll can get a glimpse of some green space (the High Line has a courtyard), some water views, and buildings all in one place. We walked all the way up and back down this park and got some really nice pictures that I will include. The park is really a nice free way to get to see the city from a different vantage point, not to mention there are some really modern buildings lining the streets along the park.

This billboard seemed really appropriate.

Also we watched the Steelers/Broncos at a place called the Pour House. And with NYC prices its probably not surprising that in such a short time we ended up in the poorhouse (bad joke).

Oh yeah and we ate this cheesecake from Juniors at some point as well. Very good.
